Then the eyes of both of them opened, and they knew they were naked; so they sewed fig leaves together and made coverings for themselves. The Judgment Oracles of God at the Fall. Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God moving about in the orchard at the breezy time of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the orchard. (Genesis 3:7-8 NET)

Adam and Eve had disobeyed God.  They had eaten of the fruit they knew was forbidden and they were ashamed.  They were exposed and then they thought that they could hide from their closest friend, God.

How many times do we do this?  How often do we think that no one will know what we are doing?  They’ll never know that we snuck that cigarette (though our hair holds the smell).  They’ll never know that we can’t help but sneak a drink (though our breath betrays us).  They’ll never know that we smoked a little weed (though our eyes are glazed).

You cannot hide from God.  He already knows.  Admitting to Him is not going to shock Him.  Admitting to yourself might be the hardest thing you do.  We think that we are hiding it from others, but are we really hiding it from ourselves?
