prayer

A call to prayer.

As I sat at dinner with some old friends, (they are both Christians) the Lord spoke to me and said, "Tell people to pray for the Muslims. I will invade their dreams with visions of Jesus Christ, the Messiah as you pray, and droves of them will come to me as they seek out those who know me.

This is critical right now for hatred will arise against the Muslims because of this act of terrorism and will merely fuel a level of violence coming from Islam that will surpass anything you have seen as yet.

The oldest "path" in the world!

Prov 8:20-30 I walk in righteousness, in paths of justice. Those who love me inherit wealth. I will fill their treasuries. “The Lord formed me from the beginning, before he created anything else. I was appointed in ages past, at the very first, before the earth began. I was born before the oceans were created, before the springs bubbled forth their waters. Before the mountains were formed, before the hills, I was born before he had made the earth and fields and the first handfuls of soil. I was there when he established the heavens, when he drew the horizon on the oceans. I was there when he set the clouds above, when he established springs deep in the earth. I was there when he set the limits of the seas, so they would not spread beyond their boundaries.  And when he marked off the earth’s foundations, I was the architect at his side. I was his constant delight, rejoicing always in his presence.

Here we experience an incredible description of the creation of our world! How sad it is...

“Look before you Leap” is wise...but “Pray before you Look” is wiser!

Scripture Read: Judges 8:24-27 Yet Gideon said to them, “I would request of you, that each of you give me an earring from his spoil.” (For they had gold earrings, because they were Ishmaelites.) They said, “We will surely give them.” So they spread out a garment, and every one of them threw an earring there from his spoil. The weight of the gold earrings that he requested was 1,700 shekels of gold, besides the crescent ornaments and the pendants and the purple robes which were on the kings of Midian, and besides the neck bands that were on their camels’ necks. Gideon made it into an ephod, and placed it in his city, Ophrah, and all Israel played the harlot with it there, so that it became a snare to Gideon and his household.

Application: We will look with greater detail in a later at what Gideon did here and what it caused. I want to park here for a moment and consider what did not...

I have 20/20 vision; why do I still have a problem seeing?

Ephesians 1:15-21

Paul has just shown believers their security of eternal life and how much their Creator, not only loves them, but also deeply desires to “lavish” on them His goodness! Now Paul moves to encourage us, based on our position of blessing that he has just enumerated, to be...

Psalm 142--Crying to God from a Dank, Dark Cave

NET  Psalm 142:1 A well-written song by David, when he was in the cave; a prayer. To the LORD I cry out; to the LORD I plead for mercy.

2 I pour out my lament before him; I tell him about my troubles.

3 Even when my strength leaves me, you watch my footsteps. In the path where I walk they have hidden a trap for me.

Letting Go

Sometimes, the best (and most difficult) words we can hear are, “We can do no more!” When these words are used by doctors concerning someone we dearly love, they are like a knife being pushed through the heart. All hope seems to be lost. As long as doctors keep trying we manage to hope but hope seems to fail when they stop.

"Great hearts can only be made by great troubles.

Great faith must have great trials"

- Charles H. Spurgeon (on: suffering)

A Father’s heart:

A Father’s heart: Ephesians 5:21–33 ...For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and shall be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. 32 This mystery is great; Proverbs 30:18–19 There are three things that amaze me— no, four things that I don’t understand: 19 how an eagle glides through the sky, how a snake slithers on a rock, how a ship navigates the ocean, how a man loves a woman.

The morning after Cilla’s wedding I spent with the Lord; meditating on all the “Jordan Stones” He had given to me with Cilla as we both grew up together. Be sure...she caused as much growth or more in me than I did in her! As I sat I began to write what was on my heart...

Dry Spell

It actually feels like ages ago since my last post. I can’t believe that time flies so fast that it’s hard to keep up with it sometimes. I really shouldn't be surprised considering the fact that it has always been that way. It does somehow feel like it's been forever since my last post. Although, I haven't forgotten the feeling of excitement and feeling of hope as each day unfolds. So, here I am again, drafting yet another post and thinking of what to write. It’s clearly becoming obvious that I need to practice writing again.
