The seventh angel sounded.

Revelation 11:16,17

My previous post has seen the two-witnesses removed from the earth, brought on a great earthquake, and left everyone watching in fear.

Revelation 11:16 ESV And the twenty-four elders who sit on their thrones before God fell on their faces and worshiped God,

What does it mean to say Merry Christmas?

My days off are split but I am learning to live with it. I suppose that means no overnight trips into the desert to view the night sky, something I have not seen in over thirty years. But it would be good to have some recovery time for the feet. Oh well. I try to get as many things done in my one as possible, like laundry and early morning bible study. It is about the only day that I have time to sit at the keyboard and input based upon my previous thoughts I have written in my notepad.

You can mess with the wrapping paper, but leave the gift alone.

Scripture Read: Judges 6:11-12 Then the angel of the Lord came and sat under the oak that was in Ophrah, which belonged to Joash the Abiezrite as his son Gideon was beating out wheat in the wine press in order to save it from the Midianites. The angel of the Lord appeared to him and said to him, “The Lord is with you, O valiant warrior.”

Application: Sometimes in an effort to appear fresh, teachers of the Scriptures try too hard to come up with new ideas that they hope will make their message unique. This passage is one that has really been abused. We should take the time to consider how this happens so we can...

Get off the roller coaster!

Scripture Read: Judges 2:16-19 Then the Lord raised up judges who delivered them from the hands of those who plundered them. Yet they did not listen to their judges, for they played the harlot after other gods and bowed themselves down to them. They turned aside quickly from the way in which their fathers had walked in obeying the commandments of the Lord; they did not do as their fathers. When the Lord raised up judges for them, the Lord was with the judge and delivered them from the hand of their enemies all the days of the judge; for the Lord was moved to pity by their groaning because of those who oppressed and afflicted them. But it came about when the judge died, that they would turn back and act more corruptly than their fathers, in following other gods to serve them and bow down to them; they did not abandon their practices or their stubborn ways.

Application: Here is where we see what happens to individuals when they fail to center their life in a relationship with their Maker. Instead...

What is my hope based in?

Why am I confused about this?

He that believes on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believes not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abides on him.

Dealing with issues you don’t like

1 Timothy 2:11-15  A woman must quietly receive instruction with entire submissiveness. 12But I do not allow a woman to teach or exercise authority over a man, but to remain quiet. 13For it was Adam who was first created, and then Eve. 14And it was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell into transgression.15But women will be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue in faith and love and sanctity with self-restraint.

Application: We come to a passage now that is quite controversial today. Before we talk about what the passage is saying, it is very important to look at a greater truth that is brought forth from this passage. Paul makes it clear that in the church women are not to be the lead teachers over the men. He then recalls the history back to the fact that Adam was created first, stating the obvious, that it was Eve who was deceived. What does all this mean? First...
