Opening Prayer

Welcome!

Step 1: Overview

First we are going to do some introductions, then we are going to discuss the Pathway, and look briefly at the Invitation, the Motivation, the Assessment, the Bible Reading, and the Foundations section (with the materials, applications, and interaction features). Then we will finish up with some time for general comments, questions, and interaction. If we run out of time you can always e-mail us, or post in the discussion group.

Step 2: Introductions.

Would you give us your name, how you found us, what ministry involvements you have in your local church, what you hope to get from this group, and where are you on the pathway (what steps have you completed). (assessment? Joined the group? Familiar with the features?)

...

Thank you for your participation and joining us today, and now:

Step 3: Walking the Path

Our goal today is to walk through on the Pathway, so that you can get the most out of the program.

If you are on your computer it would be helpful to have a browser window open to the pathway so that as I talk you can follow along.

Here is the link to save time: http://users.bible.org/form/path_maturity_foundation_stage

*Make sure to Login each session (can tell if logged in if you see your username after the welcome banner)

*Invitation

This program was developed because we have been given the mandate for discipleship. You are here because you have chosen to intentionally make this commitment to growing and living for the purposes God has for you.

4 questions, will go back to these…Are you growing spiritually? Living for the purposes God had in creating you? Being consistent and intentional about time with God? Being faith to Christ’s command to make disciples? So think about them along the way.

*To read a Background or explanation of the different features on the pathway click on the “pursue it with others (more info MUST READ FIRST)” link underneath the Invitation. http://users.bible.org/path_maturity

* Motivation to grow. Assignment for the week. Spend some time slowly reading through these few paragraphs. Look at the Scripture verses. Pray about them. Think about your life, and ask the Lord to help you Pursue Him above everything else. Write down some thoughts about how these verses should impact your life as you pursue Christ in a journal, on facebook, or on your users.bible.org blog. Just find somewhere to write it out, and try to pick out one point, a spiritual principle or an application, that you could share with the group next week. (A spiritual principle is a biblical truth that never changes.)

Remember, simply doing these things in the pathway will not make you spiritual. But they can be great tools as you do them as part of pursuing Christ wholeheartedly with the right motives.

*Assessment

*Bible reading plan

*Foundations stage

You can also take a look at the rest of the pathway, maybe do the assessment if you have not already, or begin a Bible reading plan, or begin looking at the materials and applications of the Foundation stage, but what we really want this week is for you to think through the heart motivation issues here. We need to commit to following Christ wholeheartedly first, and then use these tools to help us in doing that. Simply doing these things by themselves, without the right heart attitude, will not make us grow.

Step 4: Questions, comments, and interaction.

...

Step 5: Closing Reminders:

*Focus on the Motivation to grow section.

*Go to the group page to post comments, questions, or to find a posting of what we discussed during our time together. http://users.bible.org/groups/path_spiritual_maturity_discipleship

*E-mail us with any questions/comments/etc as needed.

Closing Prayer

Pursue Christ in all you do, and may this Path to Spiritual Maturity be a tool to help you do that. That is our prayer and desire. God bless!
