Pastor mentoring opportunities (Paul's and Timothy's)

Here in the Pastor's group we are looking for Paul's and Timothy's to help us implement the items that came from the pastors survey. see In the April newsletter summary report we said:
- "Also we would like to set up pairing arrangements of older pastors with a young pastor in a Paul/Timothy mentoring relationship. If this sounds exciting to you, please post on the pastors users group . And in turn, if you are a young pastor and would benefit from this kind of experience please do the same."
If you would like to explore the possibility of mentoring a young pastor add your comment to this post or if you are a young pastor looking for a mentor in your life add your comment to this post.

Pastor Mentoring
Submitted by pakalk on Sat, 12/31/2011 - 12:55.Hello All,
My name is Phillip Kingry and I have been working on my Bachelor's degree in Religion from Liberty University and will be graduating in 2012. I am interested in being mentored as I enter into the new year. I would appreciate guidance and assistance in exploring God's calling on my life. It seems somewhat overwhelming as the end of my schooling draws near. I feel that having the guidance and leadership of a senior pastor would be very helpful and appreciated.
I look forward to your response,
Many blessings
Phil Kingry

I would like to discuss a mentoring relationship with you. Can you use Apple Facetime or Skype that we might talk through what you are wanting and what I have to offer?

I think mentoring is a
Submitted by mathewmarkluke on Thu, 12/01/2011 - 18:12.I think mentoring is a wonderful way for pastor's to strengthen their leadership. I also think peer to peer meetings provide value to anyone on a spiritual journey, including those who are tasked with their own congregations. It has been a long time since I've delved into the relationship between Paul and Timothy, I might have to add some extracuricular study time to my normal Bible study.
With so many bible lessons to choose from, which has impacted your life the most?
We Are All Under-shepherds of the Same Flock
Submitted by pastorlamb on Sun, 04/18/2010 - 02:43.Perhaps one of the most frustrating things I have run into over the years - and perhaps some of you have as well - is the apparent fear some pastors have of potential "sheep-rustling". Well, they're not our sheep! We are all fellow under-shepherds serving under the Great Shepherd and they are HIS sheep.
When we can humbly grasp this and live by it, we will find that we have accomplished more by sharing the load than by trying to be THE one with THE answers for very person and every situation that comes our way.
They is much that I am untrained and unquallified for. The opposite is also true. There was a two- to three-year stretch in my 25-or-so years of ministry when I found a couple of other pastors in my area who held the same view and had the same heart. The results were amazing.
One was a strong and able teacher, wise in his scholarship and excellent in helping people understand deep truths easily. Another was a true shepherd with deep compassion and an uncanny ability to see to the heart of a matter and to bring soothing salve with his words. Another was an abe organizer and networker who was adept at bringing people together and simplifying complex challenges. None of them was afraid to refer a sheep in his section of the pasture to another pastor more suited to meet the need of the moment.
And, each had areas of study where they had delved much deeper than the others. They taught one another and learned from one another. And they helped the members of their own and each others' fellowships learn what they needed from whom they needed to be better equipped to use their gifting in the areas of service to which God had called them.
Retirement, transfers, and life-changes dissolved this little group and I have been searching for like-minded men ever since.
Perhaps there are some here?
My goal is to follow Jesus so closely that my clothing is covered with the dust of His sandals...
Pastor Mentoring Opportunities
Submitted by PastorShane on Thu, 04/01/2010 - 21:48.If I can be of service in any way, please let me know. I served as a bi-vocational pastor for 15 years and for the last few years have been employed full time in a church of 50+ members. There are already numerous pastors that contact me as a prayer partner and a sounding board for conflicts or decisions they are facing.

Submitted by DrD on Thu, 04/01/2010 - 07:12.After reading the survey results, I am interested in discovering more about the need for a retired pastor with computer experience. I am currently semi-retired and am interested in what is required of such a position. My experience includes 7 years of teaching online for Walden University. For more than 20 years I was a counselor educator at a leading evangelical seminary.
I am also interested in mentoring younger pastors/leaders. What is involved and/or how does this work? I am accustomed to online classrooms, etc. and can learn about other means of communicating electronically.
