I would like to start a discussion of The Ultimate Proof of Creation: Resolving the Origins Debate by Jason Lisle of Answers in Genesis. This book deals with the debate of creation vs. evolution, but the book is more a primer on Bahnsenian presuppositional apologetics with applications focusing on creation vs. evolution.

I wrote an article here for the Triangle Association for the Science of Creation (a local creation science ministry) in which I incorporated this book.

I have found these sources very helpful in dealing with atheism. This method of apologetics departs from much of what is commonly taught in popular Christian apologetics (we can deal with the differences as this discussion develops), but I have found it very helpful in assessing Christianity as a total worldview in contrast with other worldviews.

Evidence and Worldviews

One of the most important topics in The Ultimate Prof of Creation is Lisle's emphasis on the roles of worldviews, presuppositions, and the noetic effects of the Fall. These themes are central to the entire book. Lisle emphasizes that while the presentation of evidece does have a valuable role in apologetics, it is less important that critiquing a person's total worldview because a person's worldview/presuppositions will affect how he interprets the evidence. Popular classical/evidential apologetics will sometimes lightly deal with the roles of worldview, presuppostions, and the noetic effects of the Fall, but in my experience popular apologetics does not give near enough attention to the topic.

Apologetic Method

Although this book specifically deals with defending biblical creation, it is also a good introduction to a Bahnsenian approach to apologetics in general, an approach I have increasingly come to adopt over the past few years. It is also an approach which is largely ignored in most popular apologetics and apologetics conferences. Yet it deals with foundational issues which must be addressed.

I welcome comments on this book and the approach to apologetics endorsed in the book, including critical comments. This could be a fun and enriching conversation.
