A long time ago, I started a group on Facebook to discuss and debate different translations of the Bible. Sadly, the discussion/debate became an argument. But still, we did share some ideas about what makes a particular translation of the Bible our favorite, or not our favorite, as the case may be. Why do you prefer one version over another? Which version do you think "sounds like the Bible"? What are some passages you always check when you're buying a Bible? These are all fascinating topics for discussion.
One little word of warning: I don't want this group to be a forum for people to claim that one particular translation is perfect, and all the other versions are corrupt. On the Facebook group, we often were visited by King James Only types, who insisted on proclaiming all other versions misguided (at best) or evil (at worst). Please don't let this group descend into that kind of mess.

The NET Bible: One of my faves
I'll go ahead and kick off the discussion by talking about one of my favorite Bible versions: the NET Bible. (And I'm not just choosing that one because I'm posting on a site hosted by bible.org!)
