Let us hold fast the profession of our hope without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is, but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

We hear it all the time; people claim to be Christians while also stating that their belief is private and they can worship God anywhere and don’t need to attend church. The purpose of making these statements is to avoid the need to speak about their “faith” and, of course, to avoid the light of Truth in church. Yes, it is true that our relationship with God is personal, but personal doesn’t mean private. Yes, we can worship God anywhere and everywhere, but that doesn’t mean to avoid worshiping among other believers. It’s amazing the excuses we come up with to avoid doing even the simplest things God expects of us.

re: your idea personal vs private

How quickly those who say that they can worship God anywhere and yet claim to be a Christian fail to realize that the one they call Lord did not worship anywhere as a rule. What did He do? He went to the Temple! Hello!!! You who say you do not need the church? Jesus died for it, you mean you are willing to trample on what He birthed and died for? Are you saying that the very Temple that He worshiped at is not good enough?

Well said Russ....
