Freedom from means Freedom to

In my prayers and meditating on the word, I am struck by what God is doing in my life, blessings that are far more profound than what I could have imagined a few years ago. In referring back to the title Freedom from Slavery. Seizing upon the idea that freedom from bondage allows freedom to serve.
“For you were called to freedom, brothers and sisters; only do not use your freedom, as an opportunity to indulge your flesh, but through love serve one another.” Galatians
Freedom from bondage to addictions, of any type, allows us to be free to serve others. When I was in bondage, I was serving my own will, and was self centered or flesh centered. This caused guilt, anguish and separation from God and the Holy Spirit. Which lead to denial and more addictive behavior. This only numbed the pain, yet never removing it, and left the gulf of sin ever increasing. All the while, destroying my conscience and ability to feel the quickening of the Spirit.
“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is present, there is freedom.” 2 Corinthians
The freedom from bondage has allowed me to be free to serve. And it has been through service that I have found joy and happiness. By helping others and serving Christ, I have more peace and joy, than at anytime in my life. This is a blessing to me more than to any that I may have served, and has brought my addiction into proper focus under the light of the Spirit. And walking in the Spirit of Christ, lifts the condemnation, and allows acceptance of my past.

thanks for taking the time to share. You are so correct.... addiction to (lusts of flesh) leads to bondage and it robs one of the blessing that comes from serving "one another" .John 13:34 Gal 6:2
