The First Head of Leviathan is Ancient Babylon

Why is Egypt or Assyria not one of the heads of Leviathan? Egypt invited the Hebrews into their country, and as it turned out, they heavily yoked them into bondage. They taught them evil paths that many of their wise men, sages, accepted and eventually lost their true path; the price they paid for this was dreadful.

Assurance of Victory

no temptation has seized you except what is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it.

Thank you, God. I can always turn to you. I know I am your child.

I have heard the prayer and plea you have made before me; I have consecrated this temple,  which you have built, by putting my Name there forever. My eyes and my heart will always be there.

I would like to ask what kind of love could I have. I need to understand.

4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

The “NOTS” of Love!

Have you ever felt so anxious that you could describe your stomach as “being tied in Knots”? I want to talk about our heart and how it can be tied in “NOTS”.

Being that it is Valentines, let’s spend some time meditating on love. Let’s look at the opposite first, and then we will contemplate the positive.

1 Cor. 13:1-7 If I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but do not have love, I have become a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. [2] And if I have the gift of prophecy, and know all mysteries and all knowledge; and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. [3] And if I give all my possessions to feed the poor, and if I deliver my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits me nothing. [4] Love is patient, love is kind, and is not jealous; love does not brag and is not arrogant, [5] does not act unbecomingly; it does not seek its own, is not provoked, does not take into account a wrong suffered, [6] does not rejoice in unrighteousness, but rejoices with the truth; [7] bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.

Love has many looks...

Biblezines? What do you think?

Just in case there are folks who haven't heard about Thomas Nelson's very popular Biblezines, the basic idea is packaging the New Testament in magazine format, with all kinds of sidebar material about the types of things magazine readers are interested in: quizzes, reviews, advice, etc.  They were originally marketed to teen girls, when Thomas Nelson released Revolve, which looked like this...

Vintage Christian kitsch- 70s Christian Comics

I just discovered these last night, but maybe some people who read this have seen these Christian comic books in print.  There's a comic book version of Hal Lindsey's There's a New World Coming, a mini-bio of Johnny Cash, and even Christian Archie comics!  As soon as I showed my wife the site, she said, "Yes!  I had some of those when I was a kid!"

Here's one site that has lots of Spire Comics: http://www.carpsplace.com/spire/spire.htm

“Look before you Leap” is wise...but “Pray before you Look” is wiser!

Scripture Read: Judges 8:24-27 Yet Gideon said to them, “I would request of you, that each of you give me an earring from his spoil.” (For they had gold earrings, because they were Ishmaelites.) They said, “We will surely give them.” So they spread out a garment, and every one of them threw an earring there from his spoil. The weight of the gold earrings that he requested was 1,700 shekels of gold, besides the crescent ornaments and the pendants and the purple robes which were on the kings of Midian, and besides the neck bands that were on their camels’ necks. Gideon made it into an ephod, and placed it in his city, Ophrah, and all Israel played the harlot with it there, so that it became a snare to Gideon and his household.

Application: We will look with greater detail in a later at what Gideon did here and what it caused. I want to park here for a moment and consider what did not...
